What We Do

Assessment

Before deciding on whether a treatment plan is appropriate, we will conduct a thorough assessment of your child’s communication skills to determine their areas of strength and need.  The assessment is essential in helping us to set goals and gives us a baseline for measuring your child’s progress.

Therapy

Therapy is offered in 1:1 sessions with a speech-language pathologist to target your child’s speech-language goals. A mix of engaging toys and games are often used to make therapy motivating and fun!  Parents are encouraged to participate in sessions so that they can learn to support their child’s progress and feel comfortable with home practice.  Take-home activities are provided for parents to carry out between sessions.

Consultation

Education and training for parents and other caregivers are important to a holistic approach.  Consultations with other professionals (e.g. teachers, doctors, therapists) can also be an important piece of the puzzle when formulating a coordinated approach.  Consultations, when appropriate, may be provided in our office, daycare, preschool or private school settings.
